Ready to "Rise Up"
DCFU "Rise Up" Scholarship for Undocumented Students
And Special Donation to the Emergency Student Fund
Norwalk, CA. March 3, 2020 -- Cerritos College Foundation (CCF) is proud to announce its new relationship with Downey Federal Credit (DFCU). The "Rise Up" scholarship will be offered in spring 2020. Undocumented students will have the opportunity to receive an award of six-hundred dollars to help them with the cost of attending college. Additionally, DFCU will be offering complimentary financial literacy workshops on campus.
Founded in 1957, DFCU has core values that make it an excellent community partner. The member-focused credit union values honesty and integrity, which you would expect of financial institutions. It also embraces change, fosters accountability, promotes financial literacy, has a passion for making people's lives better, and is socially responsible to its community. "So it just makes sense to create this scholarship for Cerritos College students," says Jessica Cantos, Community Relations Specialist. "The students are a part of our community and we want them to achieve their higher education goals."
When DFCU learned of the challenges that Cerritos College students were facing due to the COVID 19 outbreak, they stepped up again. CCF is grateful for the five hundred dollar donation to the Falcon Cares Campaign. The credit union's support of the most vulnerable members of our student body is inspiring.
