INSTRUCTIONS

1. APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS ONLINE
If this is your first time applying for Cerritos College Foundation Scholarships, your first step is to set up an account on our AwardSpring site (https://cerritoscollegefoundation.awardspring.com). Once you set up an account and log in to AwardSpring, you will see the online application form and the list of scholarships available.

The application requires a personal statement of 400-600 words, and you can optionally add two letters of recommendation. You will also be asked to upload an unofficial copy of your transcripts.

Once you complete and submit the online application, you will be able to see which scholarships you have qualified for (meaning you met the minimum qualifications). You don't have to complete the application all at once - you can set up an account, review all the questions, gather your answers, and then log back in as often as you'd like to continue refining your application right up to the deadline, even after you've clicked the "Submit" button.

After the application deadline, our Foundation Scholarship Selection Committees will review the applications of all students who met the minimum eligibility qualifications to determine the recipients. Students are typically notified in mid/late-October for Fall scholarships and April for Spring, if they are selected.

The Cerritos College Re-entry Resource Program and the Foundation sponsor scholarship application workshops and drop-in assistance labs. If this is your first time applying for scholarships, or if you have questions about how to complete any sections, we encourage you to sign up for a workshop. You can open and download the schedule of in-person and Zoom workshops by clicking this link: https://www.cerritos.edu/re-entry-program/workshops-and-events.htm

2. Complete the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application
While not required to apply for a scholarship through the Foundation, we highly recommend that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (https://studentaid.gov/) or CA Dream Act (https://dream.csac.ca.gov/landing) Application to maximize your access to financial assistance. The annual FAFSA application is available on October 1. The application period extends to March, but we strongly encourage you to complete it early every year.

What is the FAFSA? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that can be prepared annually by current and prospective college students (undergraduate and graduate) in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.
